2021 Green Santa – It’s a Wrap!

Holiday at the Oaks 2021

LTlov is proud to announce that we had another successful year with our Green Santa program. Green Santa spreads the love of Christmas to local families in need by collecting gifts for registered children who range in age from infant to 17. Gifts are donated by residents and businesses and dropped off at designated collection sites throughout the community. These gifts are distributed directly to parents and care givers on designated days in mid-December. This year each child received several age-appropriate gifts, and all families received $50 in H-E-B gift cards.

LTlov was able to serve 691 total children (234 families) in the Lake Travis community. We are so thankful for all of the individuals and businesses that donated toys and money to the Green Santa program.

A big thank you goes out to Don Peterson from Western Industries Corporation for all the donation and family boxes.

In addition, LTlov would like to thank the Ladies of Charity, H-E-B, The Lakeway Police Department, The City of Lakeway, Lakeway Sing Along, The Oaks of Lakeway, Point of Origin, Independence Title, Belmont Village, Coldwell Banker Realty, Orange Theory, H&R Block, Pilates by Elizabeth, The World of Tennis, Moreland Properties, My Time Kids Academy, Terrell Vet Clinic, Kuper Sotheby’s, Lake Travis Library, WCID17, Kevin Charles Salon, Level 12 Salon, Stretch Zone, Massage Heights, Diesel Barber Shop, Gramercy, Adorn, Arise Chiropractic, South Star Bank, VIK Medical, Baylor Scott & White Rehab, Frontyard Brewing, Young Men’s Service League, National Charity League and The Girl Scouts for holding events for Green Santa, for donating space to us and for collecting toys for us and volunteering. You all are an integral part of Green Santa and we thank you!

2020 Green Santa was a Great Success!

As we begin a new year I wanted to give you a recap of our Green Santa Program, as it was quite a success! Despite the times we are currently living in with this pandemic, our Lake Travis Community was able to rise to the occasion to help our neighbors and children in need again this year. Here are some highlights for you:

283 Families with 802 Children Served
– 576 Elementary School Kids
– 109 Middle School Kids
– 92 High School Kids
– 25 Unknown Ages

Families were given a “Family Box” that included age-appropriate toys and HEB gift cards.

And our Community was super generous this year. We raised $11,790 from great organizations like the Lake Travis Community Library and their reading challenge, the Lakeway Activity Center, and the Lakeway Police Department. Many local businesses sent in money to sponsor our Green Santa Program. We also had our local businesses and schools actually collect toys at their places of business, which is always exciting!

The Oaks of Lakeway was kind enough to once again donate some unused space for us to host our Green Santa Headquarters.

We are blessed to live in such a generous community! As we move into 2021, let us reflect on the kindness and generosity of others as we continue to support our group, LTlov, and continue to live out our motto, Neighbors Helping Neighbors.

Thank you,

Kim Kahle

2019 Green Santa Once Again Exceeds Expectations!

Neighbors helping neighbors is the heart of LTlov’s mission and this was evident as together the residents and businesses of Lake Travis served over 222 families and 740 children.

Green Santa is an annual event founded by the Hudson Bend Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary in 1993 and is managed by LTlov since 2014.  It is called Green Santa since the Hudson Bend Fire Department, now part of Lake Travis Fire Rescue, drove green fire trucks.  This Lake Travis holiday tradition focuses on giving toys, books, stuffed animals and HEB gift cards to buy a holiday meal to qualifying children and families in the area.

“Each year I am amazed at the outpour of love this community has for the children that may not receive any toys or very little this holiday season”, Green Santa Chairwomen Sheryl Kelly said.   Truck loads of toys were delivered to the Green Santa Headquarters from toy drives hosted by LTISD, Sing Along, Point of Origin, YouthtoSeniors , LTPals, and various local businesses and individual residents.

Volunteers from Young Men Service League, Girl Scouts, Lake Travis Elementary School and LTlov members gave their time sorting and packing the family boxes and assisting during distribution days to ensure that everyone in the community can have a joyous holiday.

Space for the 2019 Green Santa Headquarters was donated by The Oaks of Lakeway.  The Lake Travis Fire Rescue was at the distribution days greeting families and passing out fire hats and stickers.

2018 Green Santa

LTlov would like to thank the Lake Travis community for sharing the joy of the season with local families whose limited finances make celebrating the holidays a challenge.  Once again, Green Santa was favored with a great outpouring of generosity which provided gifts and family meals to 672 children in the Lake Travis area. Neighbors helping neighbors was in full evidence and empowered this much beloved program to serve 204 local families in need of a little extra help with three gifts, stocking stuffers, books and a stuffed animal for each child and just under $13,000 dollars in H-E-B food cards provided to families to help stretch Holiday food budgets.

The Green Santa program is made possible because of the support of our entire community and everyone deserves to be recognized for donating time, talent and resources. Thank you, especially, to the wonderful businesses and organizations whose donations made our food card program possible: Ladies of Charity- Lake Travis, H-E-B, Point of Origin, Lake Travis Rotary Club, Thrash Law Firm, Eco Safe Wastewater Technologies, Lakeway A/C & Heating, Wink Medical Aesthetics, Terrel Veterinary Clinic, Woofs Pet Salon, Mangieri’s Pizza Cafe, and Superior Town & Country; as well as our donation sites:  LTISD school campuses, Terrell Veterinary Clinic, Lake Travis Community Library, Lakeway Activity Center, Chick-fil-A Lake Travis, World of Tennis and WOT Pilates, Prosperity Bank, Moreland Properties, Strandz Salon, Bee Cave Family Chiropractic, Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty, Luxe Salon, Body Balance Physical Therapy, Coldwell Banker United Realtors, Point of Origin, the Lakeway Police Officer’s Association, Belmont Village Senior Living, 620 Chiropractic & Wellness and Vantage Data Designs who graciously received and stored many Amazon boxes.
