2014 Green Santa

Thanks to the amazing generosity of the Lake Travis community, Green Santa spread the love of Christmas to 656 children from 217 Lake Travis families who are living at or below the poverty line. A huge thank you to our business community who supported the program in various ways: Green Santa underwriters: The Ladies of Charity-Lake Travis, Woofs Pet Salon, Mangieri’s, Lakeway A/C & Heating, Lakeway Dermatology, Whitakers Auto Body & Paint, Emilie’s Nail Salon, Terrell Veterinary Clinic, Strandz Salon and A to Z Dog Ranch; donation stations: LTISD elementary and middle school campuses, the Lake Travis Community Library, Bee Cave Chick-Fil-A, World of Tennis, Prosperity Bank, Strandz Salon, Moreland Properties, Don Rucker Tire & Wheel, Bee Cave Family Chiropractic, Kuper Sotheby’s, Luxe Salon, Elite Wellness, Lakeway Eye Physicians, Learning Express, Body Balance and Water District 17. We are also honored and grateful to have been the beneficiary of events hosted by Point of Origin, Sing Along, the Ladies Tennis Association of The World of Tennis, Wink Medical Aesthetics, the Ladera Neighborhood Social Committee, Champions Gymnastics & Cheer, Hill Country Bible Church and a Kuper Sotheby’s Open House. And of course, we could not have filled the wish lists of our registered children without the help of the many residents of our community who donated toys, gift cards and money to purchase food cards so families could enjoy a special Holiday meal. Finally, a very hearty Ho Ho Ho of thankfulness to our Project Director Harry Kilman, to Western Industries who donated our boxes and to LTISD for providing the space needed to store, sort, box and distribute the over 1500 gifts we received. Once again, support for the Green Santa program has exceeded all expectations because of the wonderful community that is Lake Travis.

Eat More Chicken, Help More Families!

Thanks to all of the folks who came out on a cold, rainy evening LTlov’s Spirit Night at Bee Caves’ Chick-Fil-A was a successful event.  LTlov’s “elves” really enjoyed talking with the Chick-Fil-A diners and staff as all were encouraged to drop their receipt into the Spirit Night box to benefit LTlov’s grants funding programs. A special thank you to our honorary elves: the lovely Kim Stotts, Chick-Fil-A/Bee Caves Public Relations Manager, the incredible Darryl Zavodny, Chick-Fil-A/Bee Caves Franchise Owner-Operator, and the entire Bee Caves location management and crew for making our spirit night possible. Watching the entire staff work non-stop with a smile and excellent customer service was an inspiring lesson in teamwork. It was a pleasure to be a small part of the effort that makes Chick-Fil-A such a huge success. LTlov has been honored to be the recipient of Chick-Fil-A’s generosity and hospitality for two spirit nights and the Pack-A-Back School Supplies drive in addition to the most recent, enormously successful Green Santa Community Initiative. On behalf of LTlov and the entire Lake Travis community, we cannot thank you all enough for your continued support over the years. We appreciate your investment in our community as together we endeavor to make our neighbors lives the best they can be.

2014 School Supply Drive

LTlov was recently named the “designated coordinating non-profit for helping families of LTISD,” and our 2014 Back to School supplies allowed us to do just that. The Lake Travis community once again showed what a great and compassionate place we live in. We collected 62 bins full of backpacks and supplies along with just over $2,700 in cash donations – a fantastic outpouring of generosity for LTISD kids whose families struggle to provide these much needed supplies. For their very generous donation of 40 full school supply sets with a backpack, haircut voucher and shoe voucher, we would like to especially thank Bee Creek United Methodist Church. Of note, for the first time this year, LTISD, through LTlov, was able to benefit from the Austin citywide ‘For The Children’ supply donation event. LTLov would like to thank the following businesses and organizations for hosting donation bins and for promoting this great cause: Elite Wellness, Strandz Salon, Sothebys, Chic-Fil-A, The Lakeway Church, Moreland Properties, Luxe Salon, Don Rucker Tire & Wheel, The World Of Tennis and W.O.T. Pilates, Prosperity Bank, Bee Cave Family Chiropractic and the Lake Travis Football Huddles & Heels event. We could not succeed without the support of our business community and, more than that, we could not succeed without each person who brought a donation. This year each and every student in the Lake Travis School District can be prepared to succeed!

LTlov Dental Care Day 2014

On August 20th, members of our community came together at the Lakeway Dental Office in an effort to ensure children who may not otherwise be able to afford dental care, had access to free oral services. Over the course of LTlov’s 4th Annual Kids Free Dental Day event, dental professionals and volunteers worked together in an atmosphere of camaraderie resulting in sixty-one children receiving basic and acute dental care. The smiles on the children’s faces spoke volumes as together we made a significant difference through the power of love from a unity of purpose directed in the service of others. LTlov is proud of what we accomplished through the generous spirit of our participants and greatly appreciate the significant role each participant played. Thanks to our doctors: Chris Kimball, Winston Eaddy, Trisha Kimes, Rich Maastricht and Joshua Tomasik. Special thanks goes to Robbie Robinson and his staff for hosting this event for the past four years. Thanks also to our hygienists and assistants: Chelsee Brown, Barbara Early, Rachel Fenley, Patsy Harrell, Sandy Kubala, Sue Minard, Sarah Moreno, Heather Schramm, Pat Waden, and Cat Willsey. Thank you to Sr. Elizabeth Guerrero, our Spanish translator, as well as Mark Hughes, Rosemary Kinman and Rocco Magnella. We extend our deep gratitude to all who gave their time and energy to make this event a tremendous success.

Pack a Backpack!

It all added up for LTlov’s 4th annual “PackaBackpack” School Supplies Drive thanks to Lake Travis residents and businesses!  Each year LTlov puts out a call for help on behalf of local families who cannot afford to send their children to school with the supplies they need to succeed. Our community’s resounding “Yes!” resulted in the most successful collection, to date, for LTlov projects and programs. Thanks to you, our children will not lack the materials necessary to the learning process. Thanks to you, teachers will not need to supplement from their own paychecks. Thanks to you, it added up beyond all expectations! In addition to the amazing amount of general supplies donated, our cash donations enabled the purchase of 42 flash drives for HBMS, 40 personal headsets for LTE and 15 graphing calculators for LTHS’ library lending program. A big cheer for Kevin and Pat from Best Buy at Bee Caves for all your help with these purchases! We are especially grateful to the businesses who hosted our collection bins and promoted “PackaBackpack:” World of Tennis and WOT Pilates, Sotheby’s, Elite Wellness, Strandz Salon, American Bank, Luxe Salon, Moreland Properties, Don Rucker Tire & Wheel, Bee Cave Family Chiropractic and Art Affair. Thank you, Kathleen Hassenfratz, LTISD Health and Social Programs Coordinator, for organizing the distribution of supplies to the individual campuses. May all of our students, teachers and administrators enjoy a success-filled school year.

2012 School Supplies

LTlov wrapped up a 3rd successful school supplies drive for LTISD with a special delivery to Lake Travis Elementary School. In addition to a vast quantity of general supplies donated by our generous community, LTE received 40 personal headphones and 25 tri-fold display boards. Hudson Bend Middle School received 40 flash drives and Lake Travis High School was gifted with 5 graphing calculators for their student lending program. The “PackaBackpack” School Supplies Drive is a community effort to provide supplies for children K – 12 whose families struggle financially and are not able to meet these critical needs for their children. LTlov would like to especially thank American Bank, Bee Cave Family Chiropractic, Corrective Chiropractic, Don Rucker Tire & Wheel, Elite Wellness, Hillcrest Bank, Old Navy and Sotheby’s for graciously acting as donation stations for the drive. Thank you also to Kathleen Hassenfratz from LTISD for coordinating the distribution of supplies within the district.
